Today, on the 12th of March, 2022, the Capuchin Friars of the Custody of Malaysia-Singapore welcome Br. Matius Lawrence Derick Goh Siaw Chiang to join the Order as 1st year Postulant in Gethsemani Friary, Cheras, K.L.
The Holy Eucharist was presided by the Custos, Fr. Valentine Gompok, OFM Cap. in the Friary’s chapel, con-celebrated by Fr. John Anandan, OFM Cap., Fr. Francis Go, OFM Cap., and Fr. Michael Teng, OFM Cap. During the homily, the Custos reminded the new postulant to be open to the works of the Holy Spirit and always to remember the motive in joining the Capuchin. The rites of acceptance took place right after the homily, and the new postulant received the Holy Bible and was bestowed with a Tau Cross.
Br. Lawrence was born and raised in Kuching, Sarawak. He comes from St. Joseph Cathedral, Kuching Parish under the Archdiocese of Kuching, Sarawak. He worked as Immigration Officer in Johor for three years before joining the Capuchin.
